Mother’s Day deals and markets not to be missed this weekend

It's a Sidewalk Chalk Party at One Strange Bird this Saturday. The boutique and art shop will have tons of art activities, facepainting, tattoos and balloons. Elmo might even make an appearance. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. only, get 15 percent off all store merchandise, including hand-made jewelry from local artists, art supplies,  home goods and greeting cards, as well as adult and kids classes and summer camps. Pick up a plant for Mom at the Wicker Park Garden Club Plant Sale on Saturday. Hosted by the Wicker Park Garden Club and Wicker Park Advistory, the free event will include herbs, vegetables, ornamental annuals and perennials and more. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 1425 N. Damen Ave.

The Chicago Art Girls third annual Spring Pop-up Shop is this Saturday at The Ravenswood Event Center. The event features 35 local female artists with a variety of art, including photography, paintings and ceramics, and handmade items from clothing to jewelry to artisan chocolates. 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. 708-524-9936. 4011 N. Join Ad Hoc boutique for its grand opening launch party on Saturday evening. The "boutique by day, event and gallery space by night" carries a selection of women's clothing, handmade jewelry and vintage and contemporary home goods and accessories by local artists. Dose Market is back for just two weekends for the time being. This Sunday, featuring tons of spring appropriate vendors, is a special one for Mom at 1st Ward at Chop Shop, and it's free. Modern Sprout's self-watering, self-feeding countertop planters are a highlight. Lilla Barn and Monica+Andy will be onsite with apparel for mom, baby and kids. Bonnie's all-natural body products, including the pure soy wax body balm candles blended with shea and cocoa butters, are certainly worth checking out.
