Decking Out Your Collegiate Boudior

Elizabeth Rago

One of my favorite parts of getting ready for school was buying new supplies. Once I graduated from high school and scooted off to college, it was essential that I not only had pencils and a crisp new journal but the perfect bedding for my dorm room. Little Elizabeth was into home décor then too, and working the Linen Department at Marshall Field’s (now Macy’s) had spoiled me for great bedding, high thread counts and Egyptian cotton. I still remember the glee in my bones as I selected a bright patterned 5-piece twin bedding set for my university digs.

The bed is an intimate place, one for replenishment and rejuvenation, yes, but is also a place of social congregation when living in close quarters with other people. Card games, group study and the occasional karaoke jam stage, the college dorm bed is multipurpose and must certainly exude style.

Target boasts a promising sale this week not only in style but savings! The Circular Home suggests freshening up your little college-bound baby’s room while you still have the chance. As you are saying your goodbyes, keep in mind your student will probably not be washing this bedding until he/she returns for winter break.
